Basic Jewelry Making Skills

Start your crafting journey with our Dentalium Earring Class, a Level 1 workshop designed for anyone looking to learn some beginner jewelry making skills, regardless of experience.

This 2-hour class introduces the basics of working with dentalium shells, a popular trade item and historical status symbol across North America, and will give you foundational knowledge in jewelry making.

All materials are included, and by the end of the class, you’ll take home your very own handmade dentalium shell earrings, perfect for powwow season!

In this class, you will learn:

• The basics of stringing beads

• How to thread a beading needle

• How to safely work with dentalium shells

• How to attach findings and clasps to your work

By the end of this session, you’ll have completed a pair of earrings and developed the confidence to explore more intricate craft projects on your own.

Included in this class:

Faceted beads, shells, string, needles, and all findings.
Participants will have the option to purchase additional beads in their preferred colors.
